You can measure the flow of time by a calendar or a clock, but another way, a way that touches my heart (and my pocketbook) is to see how much my sons’ feet have grown. I remember being able to hold my baby boy’s feet in the palms of my hands, and knowing that I wouldn’t be able to do it for long.
I really had no idea!
Now, my oldest and I are the same size; which is why I treasure this photograph so much. Those little feet don’t stay the same size. Time has a way of making them grow. I have faith that someday when I’m an old woman and they are fully grown that those very precious feet will always find a way back to my door.

Over the past 45 weeks, I have joined with 15 other women across the world from the Bloom Forum to make a circle of photographs with our blogs. In that circle, each photographer links to another’s unique interpretation of the weekly theme. Some of my favorite themes are Family, Human Connection, Silhouette, and Light and Dark.

You made me tear up! Sniff, sniff… I think it’s the boy thing.
They say boys love their moms and they better always love us! Great image and you also inspired me to do more like this with my boys.
Oh I adore feet photos – kid’s feet are just adorable! (ok – I’m really not into photos of my husband’s feet – lol – but love the kiddies!)
Love this image Jen. Perfect for Time. My oldest wears a size bigger than me now!!! Time flies, doesn’t it?

Yes, time does go by… I remember a dainty little pair of feet in 1974 and a long (less dainty) pair of feet in 1981!
Great read Jen and a very touching image. Also inspiring me to take some more family shots of my own. Thanks for sharing.
